Bitez, a slow paced, charming resort situated not far from Bodrum, is a luxurious place to visit when looking for some gentle relaxation and a dose of Turkish charm. A low-key resort, Bitez is a sun worshipper's dream. There is a beautiful beach stretching along the coast with sun loungers and umbrellas galore. Pausing only to grab a cool drink from one of the beach fronted bars, tourists can splash and paddle around in the warm shallow shores when the sun gets a little too hot.
1. Visit the Castle of St. Peter, which was built in the 15th Century and has defended the town until the end of World War II. Nowadays, it houses the Museum of Underwater Archaeology.

Tequise, famous for its levitating man, is not to be confused with Costa Teguise, a tourist resorts on the coast. The Tequise we're talking about was founded in 1414 and served as the capital of Lanzarote until 1852, when Arrecife became the official capital. This tranquil town has kept much of its colonial charm and dignity.

This December there are some very special festivals going on in Gran Canaria.
This year the Islanders of Lanzarote are attempting to take their Christmas celebrations to record breaking lengths. The annual Father Christmas Parade, held on the 23rd of December, in Puerto Del Carmen is a tradition long observed and enjoyed by locals and visitors alike. The main attraction, Santa himself, is led down the promenade aboard his magically decorated, horse drawn sleigh, from 18.00-20.00, and throws gifts and sweets to all the children that come to join the parade. But children are not the only ones expected join in: this year, everyone has is asked to don a Santa suit and aid the Islanders in their attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the most Father Christmas' holding hands. Shops all along the waterfront are set to sell costumes for reduced rates, so there is no excuse not to join in.
If splashing through the dark, rainy streets dodging puddles, car drivers and little old ladies is cramping your running style, why not head off to the sun of Cyprus this month for one of the most popular half marathons in Europe? The 27th November will see runners from all over the world converging on the Cypriot coast to run the Cyprus Aphrodite Half Marathon - a challenging race set amongst some of the finest scenery the island has to offer.
Faro's club scene is the stuff of legends, with a reputation for being the place to head for in Portugal if you want to party long and hard into the night. But travellers who use Faro as a base to explore the more remote areas of the Algarve in the off-season will experience much more of the real Portugal - a relaxed, easy going way of life that in the villages and towns further down the coast hasn't changed for centuries.
