Malta's annual Rolex Middle Sea Yacht Race set sail from Valletta on the 17th of October 2009. Around 80 yachts took part in this year's 600 mile race. The Middle Sea Race, which has been taking place on Malta since 1984 and is organised by the Royal Malta Yacht Club, is one of the oldest and most difficult offshore racing classics.
Open Air Festival in Malta
This year's Farsons Great Beer Festival, one of Malta's biggest open air festivals, starts 24th July 09 for 10 days. This family event is free entry, and there will be a variety of musical acts, attractions for children, food from around the world, and of course beer!
