From the 10th of July to the 21st of August, Alicante will be holding its annual Musicas Del Mundo Festival, translated Music of the World Festival. Musicians from all backgrounds from around the globe will be gathering to play near the city's port area with a total of 8 concerts throughout this time. The opening of this exciting event will be by Colombian pop group Fonseca and on the final day of the Festival, the legendary Flamenco guitarist, Paco De Lucia will be closing the show. Other people playing between these dates are Mexican Pop star, Alejandro Fernandez, Puerto Rican group Calle 13, Richard Bona, Bela Fleck, Dr John and so many more acclaimed musicians. Tickets will cost between 15 and 40 Euros. Money well spent!
As well as various events going on around the same time, for example the Fiestas Virgen Del Carmen and the Denia town bull run, Alicante naturally offers long hot summers, blue sky everyday and not a drop of rain, starting from mid May well into late September. Summer nights are in the late 20 degrees. Being located on the coast, Alicante has a beautiful 219km stretch of Mediterranean coastline also known as the Costa Brava so you can cool down on the beautiful beaches. Water activities such as scuba diving and sailing are very popular here. If you are inland from the coast, you can visit Aqualandia water park or Mundo mar. This is cross between a zoo and an aquarium. With flights to Alicante, you're not far away from a city that has cultural, musical and traditional events happening simultaneously - not to mention beautiful weather and friendly people.
Alicante is a must to be visited destination this summer, with so much going on, with such great weather, food and people there is not much of an excuse. Direct flights from London will take you there in only 2 hours and a half!
