One of the greatest tennis players of all time, Rafael Nadal, has a soft spot for the Balearic Islands. Although he lost the World No. 1 title during Wimbledon this year (he is now ranked No. 2 by the Association of Tennis Professionals), he was photographed radiating happiness on the beaches of Mallorca last month. The Spanish tennis player went to Mallorca to visit his beautiful girlfriend, Maria Francisca Perello (Xisca).

It may come as a surprise to some fans that Nadal has a long-term girlfriend, because he can be seen getting it on with Shakira in the music video of her song Gypsy. Shakira explained in an interview with the Latin American Herald Tribune that she chose Nadal for her video because "I thought that maybe I needed someone I could in some way identify with. And Rafael Nadal is a person who has been totally committed to his career since he was very young."

Nadal and Xisca met while in school in Mallorca and have been together for over five years now. His career takes him all over the world, but whenever Nadal has some time off, he immediately books flights to Palma, the capital of Mallorca, to see Xisca again. The secret to their happy relationship isn't hard to guess: though every inch of Xisca is more than pretty and glamorous enough, she has no interest in becoming a tennis WAG. Although she was seen during Wimbledon this year, she kept very quiet during the tournament and didn't appear to want all the media attention she received. While Nadal was working his way to the top, Xisca went to university in Palma, the capital of Mallorca, to study business. They are both working hard to fulfill their own dreams, and the romantic atmosphere of the island takes care of the rest.
