Easter also known as Paska, is considered to be the most important day in Greece traditionally. While Easter is on, it spans almost a weeks time and that week is termed as the Great Week or Megali Evdomada. During the Greek celebration of Easter, you will witness deep devotion and rich pageantry. There are celebrations and the excitement is quite contagious. Prior to the arrival of the festival traditional Greek people keep a fast of 40 days called nisteia as Easter is welcomed with preparation of elaborate meat, milk products and pastries. They are all the more excited because of the restriction they undergo during the fasting period.
