Skiathos is a popular summer holiday destination in Greece. When it comes to natural beauty, amazing beaches, plus other interesting attractions for holiday makers, Skiathos has got what it takes. There are a lot of things to do on this small island in the Aegean Sea.

The beaches are a great place to start your well-earned holiday. Skiathos beaches are exceptional, with its golden sand, green woods, hills and pine trees; you cannot help but get that paradisiacal feeling. You might find it difficult choosing among the various beaches dotting this island. Each had got its distinct characteristics. But the favourite amongst families and tourists are the Koukounaries which has got a massive number of sun beds and surrounded by lovely pine forests. The Banana beach is quite long with very fine sand and green forest. Lalaria beach has got amazing sea caves and white cliffs. If you are looking for a relatively quiet beach, Nostos would be your best option. There are also boats rides, horse rides and donkey rides organized by some beaches which you can enjoy as you take a trip round the beaches and island.

For a more daring adventure, you could visit the Walks of Skiathos Island. This island organizes a walking and informative tour around the various parts of Skathios towns for visitors who are interested in learning more about the island. Other attractions of Skiathos include the monasteries, churches, museums, cultural centre and the famous Papadiamanti museum. This museum, located in the centre of Skiathos town, used to be the home of Greek monk and writer, Alexandros Papadiamanti during the 19th century. The museum displays his works and life.

Each summer, Skathios organizes an open-air Aegean Festival which usually takes place late June to early October.This festival features a lot of concerts, comedies, theatre performances, traditional music and dance.

Skiathos town offers some excellent and mouth-watering sea food cuisines which can be found in various restaurants and Greek tavernas. Nightlife on this island is amazing with a number of clubs and pubs offering great selection of cocktails and cuisines. The locals' favorites are the little outdoor cafes which are a lot cheaper.
