The village is located around 12 km away from Fira. It is more towards the south-western part of the island. The village of Akrotiri has the underpinnings of the volcanic eruption that is still evident around the village as it had been buried under the destruction for long. Santorini can be reached by air in 40 minutes from Athens and you can plan your vacation accordingly. There are flights to Santorini from other parts of Greece too.
