Angel Sunday is an annual event, which takes place during March. Angel Sunday is a festival, which is celebrated at Bellver Castle and this takes place on the first Sunday after Easter. This is a popular festival that is celebrated by the locals and also a vast number of the tourists that come to this area and a lot of these people make the most of frequent flights to Mallorca. Angel Sunday is a traditional event and in previous years bread was blessed during this festivals and then given out to the poor people. Angel Sunday is known within the local area as Domingo del Angel and this is a big celebration within the local area.

Nowadays the local people within Mallorca gather at Bellver Castle and then they say prayers and then share a meal. This festival also sees a procession within the local area and since it is part of Spain everyone will then party in the Spanish style and this means having a big party.

The celebrations of Angel Sunday dates back to the early part of the fifteenth century however during this time this event was known as Festividad del Santo Custodio de Palma. During the later part of the fifteenth century and also during the sixteenth century this festival was celebrated by giving bread out to the poor. Following this stage the customs of this festival disappeared and it was not revived until 1982 and this is when it took on the name of Angel Sunday.

Nowadays this festival is one of the biggest festivals that are celebrated within Mallorca. This festival starts during the early hours of the morning and it starts by hundreds of people walking to Bellver Castle from the town hall. There is some people that dress up for this part of the festivals and some dress up as giants and others play musical instruments.
