During the winter period, flythomascook.com offers flights to Paphos in Cyprus from three UK airports, namely London Gatwick, Nottingham East Midlands and Manchester. Once we get to April, however, the schedule adds departures from a further seven airports and lots more flights. There are a number of ex-pats living in Cyprus, so flights from the UK are always popular, but Cyprus also makes a great destination for a winter or early spring break, particularly as the weather can be kind at that time of year.
The towns of Paphos and Larnaca, both of which are arrival airports for flythomascook.com flights, usually have plenty going on for visitors to enjoy, although during January and February things tend to be a little quieter than normal. But that's fine because the people who visit Cyprus at that time of year typically want a relaxing stay and appreciate the peace. This year the Paphos authorities organised a series of Sunday concerts which took place each week near the entrance to the Archaeological Park. Various music styles were showcased including classical, electro, latin and traditional Cypriot.
When we wrote this, the weather in Paphos was a warm 23 degrees Celsius. Another indication of the conditions you could expect in Cyprus during January and February is that the Cyprus Yachting Association held its New Year International Sailing Regatta during the second week of January. The racing started on the 8th of January and continued until 15th January on courses laid out off the coast of Limassol. There were dinghy class races and windsurfing events for both men and women.
In Limassol the towns carnival event started on the 4th of February and Larnaca put on a smaller carnival during February, Paphos also hosted its own carnival celebrations at the end of February.
