People who have booked flights to Orlando during the very humid summer months should definitely make a trip to the beach. East of Orlando (approximately 75 miles, about a 90 minute drive) is the Space Coast. This is a stretch of beach towns that reaches 72 miles in length, from the celebrated Cape Canaveral in the north to the sea turtle nesting grounds at Sebastian Inlet in the south. Canaveral National Seashore is close to the Kennedy Space Center. Canaveral National Seashore has the longest stretch of undeveloped, pristine beachfront on Florida's east coast.

Cocoa Beach is also close to Kennedy Space Center and it has a charming fishing pier and plenty of oceanfront bars while the beach is busy.

Satellite Beach is south of Cocoa Beach and is a quieter beach with a laidback atmosphere. There are plenty of places to grab a great lunch or snack here, too.

Indialantic Beach is just south of Satellite and it is another sandy beach and relatively uncrowded. There is a great pizzeria adjacent to the beach.

Melbourne Beach has lovely grassy dunes and the city itself has lots of cafes and antique shops. Great eateries in town, too.
