The Biosphere Market is a monthly market, which is held within Fuerteventura. This market is very popular with a vast array of people who come to the area in order to enjoy all that the island has to offer. A lot of the people that come to this area enjoy the frequent cheap flights to Fuerteventura.

This monthly market is designed to promote the produce from the local farmers. The main economy within this area is agriculture and tourism. This is a good area for farming as the farmers are able to take advantage of the fabulous weather on this island. This produce includes a vast amount of different things, which includes crops of wheat, onions, garlic and tomatoes and there is even some banana crops. It is also possible to purchase other local products such as olives, cheeses, flowers, eggs and spices. Most of the agricultural work takes place away from the main tourist areas. Unless tourists make a special effort to get to these rural areas they will actually not experience any of it.

The Biosphere market takes place within the bus station known as Insular and this bus station is located within the area that is known as Puerto del Rosario. This market takes place on a Saturday and the Ministry for environment, fisheries and agriculture promotes this market.

All of the stallholders within this market all have one thing in common and this is that the products that they sell have to originate from Fuerteventura. All of the products have to be sold directly, which means that the produce has to be sold by the people that have produced or grown it.

This market is a favorite with both locals and tourists alike as it is true to say that nothing tastes better than freshly grown vegetables and fruit.
