Bitez The Perfect Bay

Bitez Bay

Bitez Bay, a stone's throw from Bodrum on the Southern Turkish coast, may just be the perfect holiday bay. The weather during the long summer season is ideal, the almost perfectly circular shape of the Bay is enchanting and the lack of highrise blocks and apartments around the bay help it to retain its charm and beauty. It offers a quieter alternative to the livelier and busier Bodrum beaches of Gumbet and the main beaches closer to the town.

A little further out of town from Bodrum and just around the corner from Bitz is the smaller bay of Aktur. This bay is even smaller than Bitez and perhaps has just too little space for the visitors that go there. The beach areas (some of which are private) can quickly become full so the hotel and villa owners on the bay have taken to providing floating pontoons and boardwalks to accomodate the sunworshippers that want to lie by the waters there. That said, it is a special and affluent holiday location with some spectacular scenery and quieter spots to enjoy some rest and relaxation.

If you are a travelling family and looking for a beach that is out of Bodrum but still has enough going on for younger children, then the Ortakent-Yahsi beach may be what you are looking for. The beach is almost a mile in length and nearly everyone can find a spot close to the water's edge, an important feature for families with young children. Continue travelling further west away from Bodrum and the beaches continue, although some are privately owned and part of the various holiday clubs that are scattered along the coastline here.
