Bodrum A Place to Experience

Gullets in Bodrum, Turkey

Although Bodrum itself is in a bay and doesn't have a sand beach, the Bodrum peninsula has gorgeous, sandy beaches at Bitez and Gumbet with tons of watersports attractions for every age and ability. You can swim in absolutely pristine, calm seas. Divers and snorkelers will be drawn to the areas numerous reefs, caves and splendid rock formations. Divers can also find multicolored sponges and an astonishing array of other aquatic life.

One of the top experiences to savor is a boat trip on a Turkish gulet. These boats are built just for relaxation and cruising the coastline. There are gulet hires by the day right on the marina. A gulet ride is the best way to see the inlets and coves around the shoreline as well as the aarchaeological and historic sites around the area. Many gulets will cook a lunch for you while docked at a nearby cove or beach, which is included in the price.

Bodrum at Night: Bodrum's nightlife is renown for its sophisticated bars and nightclubs and it has a global reputation for trendsetting hot spots and hugely popular discos on Bar Street. But it's the food in Bodrum that will surprise the uninitiated. Many of the city's restaurants are of an exceptionally high standard with lots of Turkish fare for visitors to sample such as the delectable meze, fried aubergines with peppers (a common summer Turkish dish served with yogurt, garlic and tomato sauce) and freshly baked simit (a circular bread made with sesame seeds). At one of the many cafes which line the streets you'll likely indulge in a lovely Turkish coffee accompanied by a pastry. The Turks have a special flair for both sweet and savory pastries and the baklava is certainly one dessert you should not skip.
