Having seen the excitement caused by the UK concert series announced by Michael Jackson recently, it’s interesting to see other pop stars popular with previous generations still performing at concerts around the world. The Canary Islands have attracted various stars in the past including Elton John and Rod Stewart is the latest to announce a concert date on Tenerife as part of the Canarias Live Sun Festival in May this year. The concert will take place at the Campo de Golf, Costa Adeje in Tenerife.

Other musicians to have promoted concerts in the Canaries include Craig David who first appeared in concert on Tenerife in 2006 and returned in February 2009 for the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Carnaval. In 2008 blues guitarist Robert Cray performed in the Noria District of Santa Cruz as part of Santa Blues Festival on Tenerife and Jazz Funk star Jamiroquai performed as part of the Aguaviva Canarias festival.

Other stars rumoured to be performing on Tenerife later this year include Beyonce, Tina Turner and even Sir Paul McCartney but details are yet to be released for these concerts which are thought to be taking place at the same Golf Costa Adeje venue as the Rod Stewart concert.
