Every zone of Gran Canaria is worth visiting, north, east, west or south. You need to plan a longer trip if you want to enjoy the place thoroughly. There are several flights to Gran Canaria that will take you to the place safely.

The northern zone of Gran Canaria consists of the beautiful place called Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Las Palmas is directly face to face with the Atlantic Ocean. Vegueta is the oldest city of Las Palmas that has gained immense cultural and historic importance because of the monuments that were constructed here. The city was invaded by Spain during 1478. There are several places to explore here such as the popular square called Plaza de Santa Ana, the beautiful cathedral Catedral de Santa Ana and a home where Christopher Columbus is believed to have lived. This is where a museum was made in his honor.

The house goes by the name of Casa de Colonand is a colonial building adorned with beautiful ornate doors and doorways. The entrance begins from the Plaza del Pilar Nuevo. There are several big and small balconies typically designed in the Canarian fashion. The house has 2 elegant patios within, showing divers styles of architecture that is mainly Canarian. During the first trip of Columbus to America in 1952, the museum was built in the same house. It consists of 13 rooms which have an impressive collection of artifacts, paintings, ship models, maps, a copy of a cabin of Columbus ships named La Nina and navigation instruments.

Triana happens to be the second historically significant city at Las Palmas. It has some great buildings to highlight the beautiful sense of architecture of the 17th to the 19th century. There are some beaches in Las Palmas and they happen to be one of the cleanest and safest beaches such as Playa de las Canteras beginning at the western edge to northern point at la Isleta.

There are some great hills on the peninsula from where you can enjoy some picturesque scenes of la Montana de la Isleta. You can also view the complete Las Palmas and also the northern most part of the Island. It accommodates an impressive park called Parque Doramas that is situated in a district called Ciudad Jardin. Parque Santa Catalina is the place to be in during the months of January as well as February to be a part of the yearly Carnival that is organized here.
