Crete happens to be the southernmost island in entire Europe and it sure has everything you want! Whether it is the mountain villages that refresh you or the long sandy beaches that relax you, you can just reach Crete without a worry in your mind to simply enjoy every bit of the city. Traveling with friends or family is easy as there are daily flights to Crete from all over the world.

Crete has rocky bays, beach bars and exciting nightlife too. You can indulge in some water sports or some quiet time at tranquil locations. Chania is one of the most visited places in Crete so dont miss it at any cost. Chania itself has an international airport with several flights every year especially from April to October. Ferries can also be taken from Athens to reach Chania. Souda in Chania has the port where ferries travel to, every now and then however, having a car is a better option.

Chania is known for its waterfront restaurants, Venetian Harbor, the bustling streets and the old port. There are several old buildings you will come across which look grand and traditional at the same time. There are museums, crafts shops and majestic churches. At the craft shops you will find some locally made items which you can take as souvenir of this beautiful place.

Food is available here in great variety while sometimes the taste has great similarities too. The atmosphere in Chania has great resemblance with Florence or Venice. Probably if you imagine the two places, the way they were a couple of years back, you will find a lot of similarities with Chania. The added zing on the streets is because of the culture and enthusiasm of Cretan people as well as their traditions.

The Chania harbor is an awesome place to visit. If you are keen on having a look at the traditionally decorated old buildings then the harbor is the place to spend an exciting evening. The buildings have Venetian as well as Turkish designs. Some of the buildings and structures were devastated during the war and pillage.

Chania has some rich options for discovery, sightseeing and exploration. The mountain villages are great destinations if you really want to have a look at inner Crete. You can also plan to hike to the Samaria and several gorges that exist here. There are some good archaeological sites around Chania that can also be explored.
