Crocodile Park in Gran Canaria

Crocodile Park is a very popular attraction, which is located in Gran Canaria. The Balser family initially started this park when they were asked to look after a couple of crocodiles. Nowadays this park is home to a very large collection of crocodiles and it is the biggest collection of its type in Europe. Over the years the Balser family has been responsible for looking after a number of different animals, which have been placed in their care by SEPRONA who are the environmental protection police within Gran Canaria. This park is a very popular attraction with both locals and tourists who come to enjoy the collection of animals that are located in the park. A lot of the tourists that enjoy visiting this park also enjoy making the most of the frequent flights to Gran Canaria.

Although the park initially started out with only crocodiles it is now home to an array of animals which includes birds, various monkeys and chimpanzees to name a few. Most of the animals that are located at this park have arrived there in a poor state of health. In a lot of cases the animals are in a poor state due to mistreatment however others have been found on cargo ships and confiscated. A lot of these animals make a full recovery due to the professional care that is given to them by the Balser family.

The Crocodile Park initially started with only a small number of crocodiles and it was the only zoological park within Gran Canaria. This park first opened to the public during 1988. Since the park opened the family have continued to add animals to the collection and these animals have either been purchased from circuses or individuals. There is also some animals at the park who have been bred there as part of the breeding program.

This park is a fantastic place for children as well as adults as there is daily shows held in order to teach the public about the animals. This park is open Sundays through to Friday and it is open from ten in the morning until five in the evening, with the last admission being at four.
