Cyprus Thunderball

Hold onto your hats during early November in Cyprus for a car verses boat challenge.
The Cyprus Thunderball is a special event will apparently see 200 super cars, worth in total over 4 million Euros, drive across the island from Ayia Napa to Paphos in the West, while a fleet of Thundercat racing boats will attempt to beat them, making the journey by sea. The whole thing takes place on Saturday 7th November, with the cars and boats expected to assemble at around 9am at Nissi Beach, a favourite tourist spot in Ayia Napa.
Of course we don't expect to see the Ferraris and Lamborghinis breaking any speed limits on the roads of Cyprus, everything will be nice and steady and more of a showcase than a race. On the sea though, things may be slightly more hectic. The Thundercat boats taking part each compete in race events and are capable of reaching speeds of up to 85 km/h on the water. The lightweight craft use a powerful 750cc engine to generate their speed and which is also made possible by the way they surf and skip over the waves. The event distance for both cars and boats is around 100 miles, with the cars expected to take a route following the south coast of the island.
Once everyone arrives in Paphos, the organisers are hosting a special VIP celebration party at the Tsokkos Ascos Hotel in Coral Bay.
Although the event will be fun for everyone watching and taking part, the main aim is to raise funds for a worthy charity and if everything goes well the organisers hope to make it an annual event.
Flythomascook.com offer flights to Cprus from the UK flying to Paphos and Larnaca.
