Ibiza is one of the most picturesque islands among other Balearic Islands and is widely known for its white houses. For the same reason the island is called as a White island. It is an undisputed tourist destination for party goers from all over the world. Ibiza has a cosmopolitan atmosphere and the entertainment for visitors is incomparable to any of the islands in any other part of the world. Catalan is the official language of the island but you will find people speaking in Spanish. You can plan your holiday to Ibiza at any time of the year. Ibiza is reachable by air and flights to Ibiza are available almost every day from a number of locations.

Dalt Vila offers several tourist attractions in the form of art galleries, bars, restaurants, shops and establishments that truly complement the services in the district of la Marina, located between the port and the fortifications. The fortifications seen in Ibiza are traditionally referred to as Dalt Vila or the Upper Town. They have 5 entrances. The main entrance is the Gate of Ses Taules, that is just opposite to the fishermens district named la Marina. There are two Roman statues on both sides of the gate. They are two reproductions of the ones that were originally discovered during the construction of the enclosure. Now the original ones have been taken to the Archaeological Museum.

As you pass through the gatehouse you will reach the Patio de Armas. It is a singular place with 10 half arches. This was the first hippy market site for many years and there is a Roman statue from this site till the second gate, leading to the Placa de Vila square. From here you can select different directions to explore the enclosure.

The fortifications or Dalt Vila at Ibiza was declared a World heritage site in 1999 by Unesco. This declaration was also highly influenced by the presence of prairies at Posidonia of the Ses Salines Natural Park, the cemetery of Puig des Molin and the Phoenician settlement at sa Caleta. To celebrate such recognition, the town of Ibiza, especially its Council organizes an entertainment program in the 2nd weekend in the month of May every year, which is also celebrated in the honor of the Ibizan culture.

Ibiza has recently entered the group World heritage Cities of Spain site. It is an organization founded by the Town Councils of Spain. The Council organizes several guided tours through the historical Dalt Vila as well as la Marina and sa Penya.
