The capital of Kefalonia is Argostoli and it is located on a peninsular within a working port that is very busy. The port is busy with freight ships, private yachts and also ferries that operate three hundred and sixty five days. This area is home to some Venetian buildings, however there used to be a lot more but they were damaged by an earthquake during 1953. Nowadays the town has a modern feel.
