Eating out in Ibiza usually means spending a pleasurable evening in one of the many restaurants on the island. Typical Ibizan dishes are based on traditional Mediterranean fare such as fish and seafood, rice, grilled meat and vegetables, salsa alioli (garlic sauce) and rich stews. Most pastelerias and many bars sell the traditional ensaimada, a flat, sweet, soft pastry that goes great with a steaming cup of coffee.

There are many Mediterranean style restaurants in the island and all within a wide budget range. For those in a hurry and who don't mind fast food, there are places like that available here, too.

Visitors who come to Ibiza shouldn't miss the shopping experience. Ibiza is a top shopping haven with a vast choice of boutiques and markets, offering a wide array of merchandise such as designer clothing, ceramics and food. Ibiza Town shops are often open late into the night during high season.

Ibiza offers a number of interesting food products distinctive to the region. If you're visiting a food market (perfect for sampling the local delicacies!), look for the delightful ensaimada pastry, which is beautifully presented in a box, so perfect for taking home with you. You could also take home gourmet spicy sausages, delicious olives and strings of colourful dried peppers.

Markets selling general merchandise offer clothes, jewellery and leather goods. Some of the Ibiza markets are also held every day during the island's high season so just ask your tour operator or hotel staff about the best markets in the area.
