Fasnia, Tenerife

The town of Fasnia is located at the bottom of the volcanic mountain that is known as Montana de Fasnia. This mountain last erupted during 1705. There are a lot of people that visit this town from all across the world, as they are able to enjoy the regular flights to Tenerife. The very popular beach of Playa del Abrigo is close to this town. The countryside around the town of Fasnia is home to a number of hamlets and it is also home to a number of different plant species, which includes cacti, pine trees and also rockrose. The town of Fasnia is a fabulous place to use as a base when you want to explore the rest of the southern coast of Tenerife.

The name Fasnia is also given to the valley that is located within the eastern part of this Spanish island. The island of Tenerife is classed as one of the Canary Islands. This town covers an area of just over forty five square kilometers and it reaches from the mountainous interior right down to the luxurious sandy beaches. The town of Fasnia is home to a population of about two thousand six hundred and forty one.

The main sectors within this area are agriculture and also tourism. The coast and the valley within this area are dominated by the urban area and also farmland. The town of Fasnia is located about forty kilometers from the popular resort of Santa Cruz.

In order to show their gratitude for the town not being badly damaged by the eruption the local residents built a chapel on the crest of the mountain. The chapel that was built was named Nuestra Senora de los Dolores. During 1770 there was a discovery of some mummified bodies that were believed to be native Guancehes and these bodies were discovered in a cave close to Herques Gorge.
