Festivals in Antalya

There is a wide range of different celebrations that take place within the resort of Antalya. A lot of these events are classed as major events and national festivals all across Turkey and some of these are even on the Islamic calendar. Some of the dates will vary from year to year. The city of Antalya also has a number of festivals and events that are celebrated within the city and these are seen as a good way to promote the city and to encourage people to make the most of the cheap flights to Antalya so that they can take part in these events. A lot of the festivals and events within this area are designed to show people the characteristics and culture of the city.

One of the main events in Antalya, which is part of the Muslim festival, is the event that is known as Eid ul-Fitr and this event gives local people the chance to have fun at the end of the fasting of Ramadan. This festival is not actually part of the religious festivals and this event lasts for eighteen days and will normally take part during September. During this eighteen day long festival there is a lot of different things for people of all ages to do therefore this is really a family event.

There is a big festival that takes part during March within Antalya and this is known as Milad-un-Nabi. This festival is celebrated nationwide and it is part of the Islamic festival calendar. This festival is to mark the official celebration of the Prophets Muhammad’s birthday. The prophet Muhammad was born during 570 C.E and this is celebrated on an annual basis. There are a lot of people that travel to Antalya in order to join in these celebrations as it is seen as a big festival on the Islamic calendar.
