This year's must see concert of the Canaries is the 'Fuerteventura en Musica 2010', which will take place on the 2nd and the 3rd July on the beach in El Cotillo Lagoon across from Azzurro, on the north west corner of Fuerteventura.
Everyone is welcome and music usually ranges from flamenco to reggae, though last year there was a European flavour to the festival. Access to this lovely location is free and there will be plenty of chiringitos.
Normally, the Fuerteventura authorities are pretty well organised but somehow a certain amount of uncertainty has crept into the organisation of this years 'Fuerteventura en Musica'. We've not been able to find any list of confirmed acts yet, either local or international. In previous years each, evening started around 8pm and featured 3 or 4 acts interspersed with DJ sessions. Festival goers were kept entertained until at least 2 in the morning. There are late buses so no temptation or excuse to drink and drive!
Perhaps we shouldn't be too worried. Last year the organisers left it until only two and half weeks before the event as well before making any official announcement confirming the dates and location. Over the next few weeks artists will be announced one by one, creating a great deal of expectation and anticipation. It may seem a strange way to go about organising a concert but in Fuerteventura it seems to work.'Fuerteventura en Musica 2009' was a great success and this year will surely be just as exciting!
