Fun and Festivals in Florida during September

Anyone flying to Florida for a break during September is bound have warm weather on their mind, but there's more to a holiday there than just sun and sand.

Take one of Fly Thomas Cook's flights to Sandford in Orlando and the beaches of Daytona are within easy reach, as are the theme park attractions of Universal, Disney and Sea World. Also close by is the famous Daytona International Speedway, but hold any thoughts of getting to attend the legendary Daytona 500 as that doesn't take place until February 2010. Tickets for that race are already on sale and in big demand, so if you miss out there's always the Daytona 500 qualifying races a week earlier to give you a taste of NASCAR racing close-up.

Back to September and for music fans the 3 day Pandemonium Festival ran from the 4th of September in Orlando. This popular music event was expected to attract 10,000 visitors to its 3 stage arena at the Central Florida Fairgrounds, where over 50 bands performed. Organisers said the music featured was a wide mix including mainstream rock, pop-punk, ska, metal and acoustic rock. The perfect event if you were just looking for a pleasant day out listening to music. If that music event didn't take your fancy you might have tryed the alternative and reggae DubFest Music and Arts Festival which took place on the 5th of September in Hollywood, Florida. We were familiar with a few acts at this festival including reggae start Bunny Wailer.

If all that sounds too noisy, and countryside and nature are more your thing, then the Florida Keys Birding
