Fun Fun Fun in Mallorca

amazing coastline of mallorca

Theres an incredible range of things to do on the Balearic island of Mallorca. With the warm sea temperatures and good weather virtually all year round, this is an ideal location for adventure activities both on land and on water. It is a popular choice for many as flights to Mallorca are easy to come by.

Inhabited since Palaeolithic times, Mallorcas strategic position in the Mediterranean has drawn a range of settlers throughout history, including the Romans, Byzantines and Moors. Today the landscape and coastline have a distinct charm, with tranquil interior inland plains dotted with sleep villages, stunning coasts with fishing coves and long sandy beaches, and spectacular mountain and valley scenery.

Exploring Mallorca on foot or bike is a great way to both soak up the atmosphere and enjoy some thrilling scenery. From cool shaded forest to lowland pastures, to awesome ridges and dramatic mountain paths, walking in Mallorca can be as gentle or extreme as you choose. There are some truly spectacular peaks in the Sierra de Tramuntana mountain range with summits over 1000 metres for the more adventurous walker. Across Mallorca, hill walking and scrambles, walks that involve a bit of climbing, are a fantastic way to spend a day outdoors in Mallorca.

On two wheels, Mallorca takes on a whole new turn. The mountain ranges become fast downhill tracks, while the plains and valleys reveal a diverse range of flora, fauna and wildlife on a range of special cycle paths and well marked trails.

A great, action packed, and quite thrilling day out is the new sport of canyoning. The aim is quite simple, to follow the canyon or stream downwards, by any means whether that is walking, sliding, jumping, swimming, floating or scrambling. Theres just a wetsuit and some protective gear between you and the elements, yet it is incredible fun and safe to do as part of a professionally supervised outing. With vertical walls over 200 metres high and waterfalls up to 40 metres, canyoning on Mallorca can be an exciting and rewarding experience. In between the more thrilling episodes of canyoning, visitors are also treated to some amazing views. The geology and geography of the Mallorcan canyons is breathtaking, with a range of flora and fauna amongst the rivers and streams.

For water sports enthusiasts, Mallorca has a great coastline suitable for many types of water activity, including windsurfing, jet skiing, wake boarding, swimming, diving and sailing. With centres offering tuition and equipment hire for activities such as canoeing and surfing, theres an incredible choice of fun things to do. Sailing is also a popular sport here, with competitions, beginners courses, and boats for hire available around the coast.

There are some stylish self catering apartments to choose from, while Villas in Mallorca are based on the coast, near the mountains, or wherever the action is for a great taste of freedom and luxurious living.
