There is a vast array of churches and cathedrals that are located within Mallorca and these tend to be very popular with tourists. One of the biggest cathedrals within Mallorca is the Gothic Cathedral and this cathedral is located within the region of Palma. This cathedral is built on a site that was once occupied by an Arab mosque. This cathedral is one hundred and twenty one meters in length, fifty-five meters in width and also forty-four meters in height.

This cathedral is located close to the shore within this region. The construction work on this cathedral started during the early part of the fourteenth century and it took almost three hundred years. The towers on this cathedral are very high and it has been constructed from sandstone, which is golden colored.

This cathedral is one of the most outstanding structures within Spain and it is certainly the most precious treasure within the Balearic Islands in terms of architecture. This cathedral is best viewed from the sea or at night time, as it is brightly illuminated and it is true to say that is looks spectacular.

This popular attraction is open all year round although the hours do vary slightly. From April until October the cathedral is open to the public Monday till Friday from ten in the morning until half past five in the evening and on Saturdays from ten in the morning until half past two in the afternoon. From November until March the cathedral is open to the public from Monday till Friday from ten in the morning until quarter past six in the evening and on Saturdays from ten in the morning until half past two in the afternoon. There is a small admission fee for people to enter the cathedral, however it is only a small amount and it is certainly worth it.
