Grand Prix in Istanbul

Turkish Grand Prix 2010

This year is the sixth time that the Grand Prix takes place in Istanbul and boosts the sale of flights to Turkey. This year, F1 fans can see Button on his favourite track. "Turn Eight is one of the best corners in Formula One," Button said in an interview earlier this month. "It feels fantastic when you throw the car into the first apex, and then just feed it through with very precise throttle and steering inputs. When you get it right, it feels absolutely fantastic - you really can pull a lot of speed through that corner."

The Istanbul Park circuit is 5.338 km long and is one of the few on the calendar that runs anti-clockwise. The other anti-clockwise circuits this year will be Singapore, Brazil's Interlagos and Abu Dhabi. Button's favourite corner, the Turn Eight is a unique left-hander with three apexes and has to be taken at around 250 km an hour. It is said that drivers are experiencing the highest G-forces of the season at the Turn Eight.

Ferrari's Alonso is determined on making up for crashing at Massenet in Monaco and his team mate Hamilton is determined to win at a track where he has always been fast but unlucky.

According to Button, the track is one of the better modern circuits the F1 circus visits. "It's got a good balance of corners, some good gradient and, most importantly, in terms of overtaking, it's probably the best-designed circuit that we visit all year," he said. "If you can follow a car out of Turn 10, then you've got a really good chance of getting a tow and having a look up the inside into Turn 12, or even Turn 13 - those two corners are where all the passing usually happens." Tourists in Turkey this weekend will not only have a great time because of the exciting performances of the Red Bulls Webber and Vettel, but also because of the exceptional Turkish hospitality and the fascinating culture in the city of Istanbul.
