Archaeological Museum of Corfu

Corfu is a great place to be with family and young children if you want to get a taste of Greek culture. Reaching here is easy as the city has an airport of its own and there are some flights to Corfu from several international airports. The Archaeological Museum of Corfu acts like a wide window to the Greek historical background. The museum was constructed from 1962 to 1965 at a location that was provided more as a donation by the Municipality. It was inaugurated later for allowing general public including tourists in 1967. The primary aim of constructing the museum was to store the impassioned Gorgon Medusa classical architecture belonging to the Great Temple from Artemis. The temple was made during 585 B.C. and the remains of the temple were excavated during 1911 close to the monastery called Aghioi Theodori.

International Festival of Ancient Greek Drama

The Ancient Greeks can lay claim to some of the greatest achievements of Western civilisation, and throughout July the International Festival of Ancient Greek Drama in Cyprus will attempt to breathe new life into this proud tradition. The festival was created in 1996 and attracts theatre companies from as far afield as Britain, USA, Russia and Korea. Through this international participation, the Cyprus Centre for Theatre aims to highlight the universality of Ancient Greek drama and its relevance in the modern world.
