Gumusluk in Bodrum

Gumusluk is about 23 miles away from Bodrum city and you will encounter a few fishermens coves in this seaside village. The village is quite peaceful. It is known as one among the old settlements of the Bodrum peninsula. It is sitting right on top of the site where the ancient city of Myndos stood several years back.

The remains of the ancient walls of the harbor are all over the headlands located at the northern and western side of Gumusluk. Today you will find several snorkelers flocking around these remains. So if you are keen on snorkeling then you too can try exploring the remains. In 2006 there were many archaeologists who landed in this village of Gumusluk for excavating the land. They were in fact, successful in uncovering the authentic mosaics and walls of the Harbor. It is the same site where Cassius and Brutus escaped after murdering Julius Caesar in 44 B.C.

One of the most amazing places to visit around Gumusluk is the Rabbit Island that lies between the two beaches at Gumusluk. Rabbit Island can be reached using the antique causeway that was constructed in the Hellenistic period. The whole of Gumusluk is pretty amazing and you can spend at least 5 to 6 days here.
