Have a blast at the Hurghada International Festival

Triathlon in Egypt, Hunghada

The city of Hurghada was once famous for being a sleepy inactive fishing town. But things have changed over a period of a few years and now the once sleepy town has surprisingly evolved into a global tourist hotspot. Earlier, the city was wrapped under a huge influence of Egyptian and Islamic cultures alone. However, with a higher number of tourists visiting Hurghada, the city has now opened up to western influences. This is easily reflected in the Hurghada International Festival as it is the best amalgamation of the eastern and the western cultures. The essence of the Hurghada International Festival is the Triathlon. Similar to any other Triathlon, Hurghada International Festival is also a combination of three major sports which include swimming, cycling and running.

The city of Hurghada boasts of its own international airport which is also one of the reasons for the increase in tourism. Now if you wish to attend this event which will happen in the February of 2011, you can take flights to Hurghada easily from any place in the world. If however, there are no direct flights flying to Hurghada from your location, you can take a hopping flight from Cairo or Luxor which are 530 Km and 290 Km away from Hurghada respectively. However, we suggest that you make the relevant check with the organizer before making the bookings as there is a possibility that the event may get cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.

Now, if you are attending this event, make sure you have travel plans of at least half a month as the event lasts for 12 days. The locales in the place treat this festival as a 12 day activity full of fun and frolic apart from all the sportsmanship displayed at the sporting events.

The uniqueness of the Hurghada International show Triathlon lies in the fact that apart from the three standard sports, the event also includes a sport called Mare Monti. The sport is nothing but a free run of 75 Km where the participants are required to run on a road which runs parallel to the mountains and the sea simultaneously. This event attracts participation from across the world since it is of an international nature. The event meets its finale as the participants run a Hurghada Half Marathon.
