Hot Work in Turkey for Drivers

Turkey provided the world of Formula 1 with a great track, warm weather and fantastic spectacle, but the teams did seem to struggle with the hot track that warmed up to over 50 degrees Celsius during the event and tested the car's tyres to the limit. The air temperature was a very nice 30 degrees and those forced to sit in uncovered stands decided to take to the shade, hence the empty spaces that appeared around the track.
In the south of the country, at tourist resorts like Bodrum, Dalaman and Antalya the weather over the weekend was very similar. Of course clear skies and warm temperatures are what make these Turkish resorts favoured by holidaymakers. In Dalaman for example, the average daytime temperature rarely drops below 10 degrees Celsius, even during the winter months. Extended summers are what characterise these parts of the coast, with at least 5 hours of sunshine most days all year round and pleasant, cooling sea breezes when the temperature gets too hot.
In 2007 Bodrum has its warmest winter for 20 years, with busy beaches at the weekends and visitors still able to swim in the sea comfortably in December. Although there are occasional spells of rain during the colder months, these are limited to a few days only and it has been calculated that Antalya benefits from an average of 310 rain-free days every year.
