Hurghada International Festival

Silent beaches in hurghada

From a sleepy little fishing village, Hurghada has transformed into a famous holiday destination in the past years. The city was largely made popular by Russians wanting to escape from the cold wave in their country to get some sun and heat. It was soon put on the map as a tourist hot spot and many countries started organizing flights to Hurghada.

With several resorts and hotels to make your stay comfortable, Hurghada is popular for its offshore diving sites. The city is well known for its aquatic sports such as kiting, deep-sea fishing, windsurfing, sailing and of course, snorkeling. For those interested in any of these activities, hotels and resorts make arrangements for required gears and facilities.

Sports being an integral part of Hurghada, an International Festival is held every year in the month of February. The festival is an annual sporting event and is held for a period of 12 days from 4th to 15th February. It is actually a triathlon concentrating on three sporting events, viz. cycling, running and swimming. The entire event is celebrated with much fanfare and enthusiasm by participants and others alike, with sportspersons coming from all parts of the world.

Though the event is solely a triathlon which is similar to any other such event, the organizers recently added a new sporting event called Mare Monti. It involves a free run of 75 km by different participants. The race is carried out off the road between the seas and the mountains and is quite interesting to watch. The event culminates with a Half Marathon with more than 200 people participating for the 10 and 21 km race. Whether you are into sports or not, it is pleasure watching scores of people running in the breathtaking surroundings of Hurghada.

EgyptAir has daily flights to Hurghada, however, the price tends to change depending on the season you are traveling in. Package holidays usually offer charter flights to Hurghada, which turn out to be much cheaper compared to the round trip fares, so you can consider them while planning your trip.
