Ibiza is one of the most beautiful islands in Europe. It is also known as Eivissa Vila in Catalan. It forms a part of the 4 Balearic Islands. The densely forested Island with pine trees, towering cliffs, the neat and clean beaches and amazingly blue sea makes Ibiza a holiday destination of choice for many travelers.
The Island was established by the Carthaginians. It has grown into a centre of important activities and later became the capital of the Pituses or The Pine islands. The Island consists of 5 municipalities viz. Eivissa Ibiza, Sant Josep de sa Talaia, Sant Joan de Labritja, Santa Eularia des Riu and Sant Antoni de Portmany. All of these have their attractive peculiarities.
There is a rock Island in Ibiza called Isla Es Vedra. The rock has loads of old legends related to it and tourist guides, if you hire one, will tend to exaggerate the tales a little. The sunset on Ibiza is something you should not miss even if your trip is 1 or 2 days long. Several artists and celebrities from Hollywood visit these beaches. You might bump into one any time. The most adventurous part of the Island is its hidden coves around its coastline. The sand is clean and shines bright during the sunny days.
Ibiza Carnival is the most colorful festival celebrated in Ibiza. The carnival is in form of a parade through the heartwarming streets of the Ibiza Town. The parade is accompanied by various colorfully costumed participants walking their way through the capital showing some cute gestures and allowing their dresses to speak stories. The sun shines at this time of the year and thousands of eager spectators jump and walk around the participants dancing and gaily enjoying the carnival mood.
The carnival is a great reminder of the many stories of the fantasy world. Participants are dressed representing various cartoon characters as well as significant people from history. You will also find some Capricorn Dancers dancing their way through the narrow lanes. Some girls are dressed like Barbies and there are others dressed in a cloth resembling the hide of a tiger. There are balloons, confetti, men wearing clowns dresses, a trolley moving the Broadway style, thematic parades by school going children and many other interesting activities happening throughout the 5 days of the carnival. To be a part of this parade you will have to catch a flight to Ibiza. Flights are available from most of the international airports.
