The world famous club scene on Ibiza approached the big closing party season in late September.
Ibiza is possibly the world's greatest island location for nightclubs, with several huge clubs that attract thousands of clubbers to enjoy sets by most of the world's best DJ's. The authorities on the island have been working hard to make the events more acceptable to other holidaymakers and residents and this year introduced restricted daytime opening hours for the clubs.
The club season on Ibiza started in May with some big opening parties that set the scene for the summer ahead. This year there was such a demand for tickets that many were unlucky and had to party outside in the car parks. No-one knew for sure what the closing parties would bring, but the clubs themselves were planning some big nights, featuring some of the best known performers on the circuit, so demand for tickets was expected to be high again.
The Space nightclub, voted best Spanish Club in 2008 by Deejay magazine, hosted its closing party on the 27th of September, which it called its Closing Fiesta and looked to be a big celebration, with no less than 29 DJs including star David Guetta. The Privilege club held more than a week of closing parties that started on the 21st of September with its Tiesto Grand Closing and finishing on the 2nd of October with the Privilege and Supermartxe Grand Closing.
Pacha hosted the 2009 Ibiza DJ Awards ceremony on Thursday the 24th of September. This year the club held its Pure Pacha closing party on the 2nd of October after a string of other closing events. Amnesia closed for 2009 with a party on the 3rd of October. The big finale for 2009 at the Eden club was their event called Wonderland on the 25th of September that featured both Eric Prydz and Pete Tong. Tickets for this closing party were priced at 47 Euros.
