The Teatro das Figuras in Faro was the venue for a Dance Gala evening on the 10th of October 2009.

The Algarve resort of Faro has two theatres and one of them, The Figuras Theatre, was the setting for the fifth anniversary celebrations of the Algarve Dance Company. The company had invited a number of solo dance performers from around Europe to dance at the gala. The performers came from several different countries and danced in various styles from classical to contemporary, with music from a selection of composers including JS Bach and Tchaikovsky. The gala ran for one night only and tickets were priced at 15 Euros. At the end of October this Faro theatre is holding its 10th Festival of French Cinema which starts 28th October and ends on 1st November.

The other theatre in Faro, the Teatro Lethes, was the venue for a theatrical performance that would have been of particular interest to British visitors to Faro during early October. Two comedy theatre productions were performed in English on 9th, 10th and 11th October. The first was entitled "Snakes and Ladders", a comedy written and performed by Nicky Moran. This one-woman comedy had been performed already at different venues on the Algarve and portrays the life of Margaret Draper.

The second play on the bill was an interpretation of Tom Stoppard's "The Real Inspector Hound". This was an unusual production of something called theatre within theatre. Some members of the cast perform a parody of the murder mystery play set in a country manor, Muldoon Manor, while a second plot develops in parallel. The play has been compared to Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap and featured two theatre critics offering cliched opinions initially from the audience and later on stage amongst the actors. Tickets for these performances were priced at 12 Euros.
