The attraction of Kocain Magarasi is one of the most important caves within the area of Antayla. This cave is a very popular tourist attraction. This cave was inhabited during the prehistoric times and during the Byzantine times and also during the early part of the Christian times. The cave was also used for a religious function during the early part of the Christian times. This cave is very popular with tourist from all across the world and they make the most of the frequent flights to Antalya.

Following the Christian times this cave was actually forgotten about and it was not found again until during the start of the twentieth century. There are a number of famous cave paintings and inscriptions on the inside of the cave. There have been a lot of fascinating archaeological remains that have been found within the basement of various houses, which are located in front of the cave.

During 1946 there were a number of excavations that were carried out within this area. A professor from the university of Ankara actually spent a number of years conducting excavations within this area. It was not until 1972 that the cave was actually explored by speleologists and the main reason for this is that Turkey actually did not have any infrastructure for cave exploration or cavers.

This cave is actually very big and the entrance to the cave is seventy meters in width and twenty meters in height. The cave features a slope that goes down from the entrance and this passage is a massive length of two hundred meters.

The Kocain Magarasi is a very interesting place to visit when in Antalya and there is a wide range of other attractions that are very popular. It is true to say that there is plenty things to keep people busy within Antalya.
