Lanzarote Festival in Arrecife

Visitors to the island of Lanzarote next weekend will have the opportunity to sample the Festival of Arrecife, a series of musical events taking place at different venues around the city on Friday and Saturday.

Two concerts on Friday include a performance by flamenco guitarist Jose Luis Monton and Lebanese violinist Ara Malikian. The two will play a varied programme of pieces, exhibiting influences of Middle Eastern and Central European styles including some jazz. Later in the evening, modern band, also known as Kenneth Suá²¥z, will showcase his own unique style of contemporary electronic music featuring the vocals of Cristina Zarallo have performed at many music festivals in the past including WOMAD and FMAC, an alternative music festival that took place on Tenerife earlier in the year. This year's WOMAD concert will take place in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria between Thursday 12th November and Sunday 15th November.

Other performances in Arrecife next week include the traditional Canarian singer Marivi Cabo who will perform pieces from her 2008 album "Atlantica".

The following week another interesting musical performance takes places in the Cuevas de los Verdes, the Green Cave, part a series volcanic lava tubes which have been converted and installed with a spectacular lighting display. The concert will be given by Cuarteto Partichella, a string quartet of professional musicians who play classical pieces from the likes of Mozart and Vivaldi.
