Lanzarote Museum Concerts

Panorama of Lanzarote

The Castle of San Jose on the island of Lanzarote is the unique setting for a series of concerts taking place over a four month period this year.

For classical music lovers, concerts come in all shapes and sizes from grand performances by philharmonic orchestras in huge concert halls to small venues where string quartets or solo performances can be enjoyed in a more intimate atmosphere. Well, the "Musica enel Museo" series certainly falls into the latter category as ten different performances are planned to take place in the Museum of the castle in San Jose between the end of February and the middle of June this year.

The different performances range from Operas to duets, trios and quartets playing instruments including piano, saxophone, violin, flute and clarinet. The events are limited to audiences of just 70 people, so reservation in advance is recommended. The price of tickets is just 8 Euros.

The island's The Museum of Contemporary Art is also housed in the castle, which was built by King Carlos III in the late 18th Century. The museum's gallery shows some works by Cesar Manrique, who was instrumental in the building's renovation, as well as works by Bacon, Botero and Picasso. The castle also houses a good restaurant.

Flythomascook.com will resume flights to Lanzarote from UK airports such as Manchester, London Gatwick, Birmingham and Glasgow as soon as the ash cloud clears.
