Mallorca Gets Classical

You are never too far away from a classical music performance in the town of Palma de Mallorca. The cultural roots of this town are deep in Mallorca and all forms of music are frequently represented on the event calendar. From the annual Chopin Piano Festival in Valldemossa to the outdoor summer concerts at the towering Bellver Castle in Palma, Mallorca has more than its share of inspirational venues too.
On the 5th and 26th November the Balearic Symphony Orchestra performed at Palma's Auditorium, while Palma's Jazz Voyeur schedule continued throughout the month with various concerts at Palma's Conservatory of Music.
One of the final music festivals of the 2009 season was the 6th Speculum Musicale Festival that featured Mallorca's Baroque Orchestra. The festival which had already hosted concerts during October continued during November. On the 7th, 11th and 14th November violin soloist Barry Sargent played in Port de Soller at the Sala Museu de la Mar. Concerts started at 8pm and tickets costed 10 Euros. A concert on the 30th November featured solo flute and piano performances and used the stunning Monasterio de la Purisima Concepcion de monjas Capuchinas (Monastery of the Capuchin Nuns) as its venue.
Other concerts on Mallorca during November included a viola and piano performance at the Chapel of les Escolapies in Soller on 17th November. A season of Operas also concluded during November with performances of La Boheme at the Principal Theatre on 20th and 22nd November.
