The world of the performing arts can take many forms, from theatre and opera to classical music concerts and choral recitals, but April on Malta sees two other varieties taking centre stage.
When you think of dance events, ballet, ballroom or even salsa may seem to be the public's preferred formats at the moment, but on Malta another form of dance was showcased in two performances on the 17th and 18th April. The Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta is the venue for two performances of "Tap Reloaded", a show that combines music, theatre and... tap dancing of course. Featuring in the show are no less that 20 ten-times world champions and 25 tap dancing gold medalists, so even if you were not sure about your love of tap, the performances certainly gave you your best opportunity of appreciating the skill of the world's best exponents. Tickets for the performances were priced at between 29 and 59 Euros.
On 30th April, the streets of Valletta will be filled with the pomp and pageant of military music as the Armed Forces of Malta Military Band marches through the city playing various pieces of music. The procession leaves Valletta's City Gate at 10 in the morning, heading along Republic Street before arriving in St Georges Square where they will give a concert lasting 45 minutes, before heading back to the City Gate. The event coincides with the International Firework Festival that starts in Valletta the day before and finishes with a large display on the evening of 30th April.
