One way to see the spectacular island of Malta is on an open-topped bus which allows you to take in the views with the win in your hair and the sunshine at you disposal. Each bus tour takes about three hours. The buses here run on two different routes: the south of the island and one on the north. The South tour visits Valletta, a lovely fishing village called Marsaslokk, the Blue Grotto and the Megalithic Temples of Hagar Qim among many other interesting sites. The North tour takes visitors through the marinas of Ta' Xbiex, San Anton Palace gardens, Ta Qali Craft centre, the Aviation Museum, Mosta Dome and over to Mdina. Malta's most magnificent beaches as well as the popular tourist centres of Bugibba and St Julian's can be seen on the return journey.
If water is your favourite form of transport, you can go island-hopping on a boat to see both Malta and Gozo, sailing by Valletta and the other cities, fishing villages, and marinas on the stunning south coast. This is a great way of opportunity to see the area because flights to Malta are available from 108 pounds. The boat tours allow you to see Comino's famous Blue Lagoon and the caves of Comino. Drinks and Maltese snacks are usually included with the package price of the lunches they serve. If you like activities such as diving and snorkeling, you can take specific cruises that cater to those sports.
Yet another way to see the sites around the Grand Harbour and Valletta is to take a Maltese Dghajsa - a water taxi ride. These small boats take off from Valletta marina and will guide you around the many views of the capital city, fortifications and other points of interest. Taking a Dghajsa is a traditional way of experiencing the coastline, its harbours, and learning about the area in a fun and affordable way.
Malta has some lovely sandy beaches to enjoy most of which are situated on on the north side of Malta and a couple on Gozo. You can reach the ones on Malta by bus or by car hire.
A terrific water park for families is the Mediterraneo Marine Park with its "Splash 'n' Fun" complex in Bahar ic-Caghaq. The Splash 'n' Fun waterslides, tidal wave pool, lazy river park and children's pool, are popular tourists and locals. They have tropical dancing, aerobics, volleyball, salsa lessons, an ice-cream parlour, coffee bar and a restaurant and snack bar outlet.
