Medieval Rhodes Festival will happen next in May-June 2011. It is an annual festival organized by the Medieval Rose Foundation along with the co-operation from the Municipality of Rhodes. The event happens in Perfecture of Dodecanese which is a cultural and architectural heritage monument of the world.

UNESCO declared it a heritage in 1992. The event is a perfect representation of the Greek culture which can be seen from the way the eminent historians, archaeologists, musicians, actors, craftsmen, musicians and all from all over Greece come together to bring life to this festival. The festival witnesses participation from many tourists who visit the town as they get invited by the locales who volunteer to invite each and every guest who enter the town.

As with all the festivals and carnivals across the world, the Medieval Festival also has a unique beginning to the extravaganza. The third sound of the trumpet and the walk of the order of the Knights, Cavalry and the Infantry mark the beginning of the event as they form a castle on the streets.

These streets are called the streets of the Knights. The entire mood is that of a carnival. Starting from restaurants to the streets to the down town houses, everything is decked up to give you a look and feel of the medieval times.

Puppet shows, chess boards, wooden stalls and benches, handicraft items and even the exhibitions take you back to the medieval era. However, if none of these interest you, do not worry. There will be a lot of dance and music performances happening during the course of the festival.

And you can be in any part of the city; the festival mood shall get on to you. The activities keep happening in all parts of the city. Hence whether you are touring alone or with your friends and family, you will find some or the other activity to keep all the people entertained throughout the course of the festival.
