Mount Teide in the Canaries

Mount Teide is one of the highest mountains in the Canaries and also on the Islands that make up the Atlantic. This mount is also the third biggest volcano within the entire world. This is a popular attraction for tourists and a lot of the tourist get to the area using the regular flights to Canaries.

Mount Teide is actually a live volcano however it has not erupted since 1909. This volcano is surrounded by the national park known as Teide. This national park covers and area of eighteen thousand nine hundred hectares. On the 29 June 2007 this park was given world status as a heritage site.

More than two million visitors per year visit this national park. This national park is then most popular within Europe and it is the second most popular within the entire world. Mount Teide is the most famous landmark within the Canaries.

Mount Teide is classed as a stratovolcano and it is three thousand seven hundred and eighteen meters above sea level and it is about seven thousand five hundred meters above the floor of the Atlantic Ocean. Mount Teide is the biggest mountain in Spain.

The Canaries are a very popular area for tourists and geographically they are close to Africa. All of the islands that make up the Canaries have been formed due to volcanic eruptions and all of these islands are beautiful. The landscape on the islands is spectacular and they are home to sub tropic flora. There are some pinewoods on the Canaries and there are lovely sandy beaches. There is a vast amount of things for tourists to see and do within the local area. These islands are great for people that enjoy exploring the outdoors and also people that like to relax on luxurious beaches whilst enjoying the sun.
