Music Variety in Mallorca During December

Visitors to Mallorca during the peak months of the summer more often than not stay in their resorts for the duration of their stay. But for those coming to the island during December there are plenty of reasons to take a trip into the capital Palma, to experience the sights and sounds as the Mallorcan Christmas approaches. In terms of music there are many different Christmas concerts, during the early part of the month there was also a varied choice of concerts in different musical styles, that provided something for everyone.

Firstly Jazz fans were eager not to miss the final event of Palma's Jazz Voyeur Festival when the Georgia Mass Choir sing at the Auditorium de Palma on 9th December. This well known gospel choir have performed alongside Whitney Houston and Stevie Wonder. The Choir of 150 singers also performed at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta.

He may not be that well known in the UK but David Bisbal is one of Spain's top pop stars. Each one of his first three albums has reached the top of the Spanish charts. He has won a Latin Grammy and recently recorded a duet with English star Pixie Lott. On 15th December he came to Mallorca to perform at the Auditorium de Palma. He played many of his chart topping hits and also songs from his new studio album Sin Mirar Atras.

Two days earlier, on 13th December, the 4th Caimari International Festival of Traditional Music was held at the Teatro Principal, also in Palma. Performances started at 9pm and tickets started at 15 Euros.

Finally the Auditorium de Palma is the venue for a concert performed by the Balearic Symphony Orchestra and guests on 19th December starting at 8:30pm. The concert will feature compositions by Borgunyo, Torrandell and Lamote de Grignon.
