Watching videos about a country are a fantastic way to get a feel for a place before you go over and spend time there. Especially those videos that the locals themselves are watching. Spain may well be a popular and well-known holiday destination but there's still nothing like viewing its sights and listening to its sounds on film. This Viva Espana video starts with a fabulous fanfare and a flash of the Spanish flag before giving you wonderful overview of Spain. It's a lovely introduction to the country.

One of the greatest tennis players of all time, Rafael Nadal, has a soft spot for the Balearic Islands. Although he lost the World No. 1 title during Wimbledon this year (he is now ranked No. 2 by the Association of Tennis Professionals), he was photographed radiating happiness on the beaches of Mallorca last month. The Spanish tennis player went to Mallorca to visit his beautiful girlfriend, Maria Francisca Perello (Xisca).

Music festivals are very popular on the island of Majorca and its smaller neighbour Menorca. On Mallorca it seems that even smaller towns are organising their own summer music festivals, with jazz proving to be one of the more popular styles. On Menorca, festivals are equally popular and one of the biggest is the annual Music Festival of Mahon, which features mainly classical performances. This festival may be smaller than some of its Mallorcan equivalents, but the quality of the performers is very high.

Top tennis player Rafael Nadal may have been beaten in the French Open but he is still fully supporting the promotion of tourism for his homeland, namely the island of Mallorca. Nadal, who comes from the town of Manacor on the eastern coast of Mallorca, had to make the difficult decision to leave the island when aged 14 and move to the Spanish mainland to pursue his tennis career. It proved to be the right move as the 23 year old has been world ranked number one since August 2008, but the top player loves his homeland and still lives in the family home on the island with his grandparents, parents and uncle/coach Toni Nadal. Rafael is a regular at the local tennis club in Manacor and was there recently preparing for the French Open.
