National Ethnographical Museum in burgas

The National Ethnographical Museum is part of the National Museum and it was founded during 1892. During 1906 this museum became an independent museum and it is home to collection of traditional Bulgarian suits, crafts, decoration, woven and musical instruments. A lot of the tourists that visit this area take advantage of the regular flights to Burgas.

The National Ethnographical Museum is spread over two different levels. This museum has a collection of region costumes and crafts. Most of the space within the museum is occupied by temporary exhibitions that have been here for a long time. These long term temporary collections include a number of different things such as carpet making and traditional festivals.

Some of the rooms within the museum are in a poor condition however there are other rooms that are well decorated. The well decorated rooms are home to a number of things including a marble fireplace, ornamental works and mirrors. A lot of the collection within this museum is worth taking time to have a good look at.

During 1949 this museum became part of the BAS system. There is more than fifty thousand items within the museum and these all date back to between the seventeenth century and the twentieth century. All of the items within this museum represent the traditions of Bulgaria and the art and crafts traditions.

During 1969 the national museum of Ethnographic was housed within the old Kings Palace and this is a cultural monument that dates back to the nineteenth century. The main purpose of this museum was to preserve all of the artefacts that were housed in the museum and expose everything to the ethnocultural wealth of Bulgaria. The museum operated with this aim for well over a century. Towards the end of 1892 the ethnographic section of the museum was enriched with an original and priceless collection that is from different parts of the Bulgaria.
