Naveta des Tudons in Menorca
The Naveta des Tudons is a very popular attraction within Menorca. This attraction is a very famous chamber tomb that dates back to megalithic times. This is a collective tomb that is contained and it was discovered during 1975. This tomb has been restored and open to tourists. This attraction is one of the main attractions within Menorca and it is located between Ferreries and Ciutadella de Menorca. There are a lot of tourists that visit this attraction every year and they make use of the cheap flights to Menorca.
The legend about these tombs is that two brothers who were competing for the same girl built them. They decided that they would start a construction and the first one to finish would marry the girl. One of the brothers decided to build a naveta and the other one decided to build a well. There is a stone that is missing from the top and this is thought to have been caused when one of the brothers distracted the other and the one holding the stone threw it and this killed his brother. The brother who had thrown the stone was very remorseful and his way of coping was to kill himself. It is thought that the girl died alone and was buried within the naveta.
The naveta is unique to Menorca and it is one of the most visited prehistoric monuments that are located on the island. The prehistoric monument is located close to the Ciutadella. This attraction has two corbelled walls and two vertical walls, which make it, look at bit like an upturned boat. The shape of this building is how the building actually got its name. This building is about four meters in height, fourteen meters in length and six and half meters in width. This tomb monument was built using massive stone blocks.
