New Water Park in Tenerife

Water splash

The opening of the Siam Park water complex was certainly long awaited. Construction started back in 2004 on what is reputed to be the biggest water park in Europe, but delays and construction problems delayed the opening by 16 months.

The park finally opened in time for the last few weeks of the 2008 season so has yet to be fully tested by big visitor numbers. The park features a large number of rides and aquatic attractions including closed and open water slides and some that travel in transparent tubes through tanks of fish.

The main attractions of the park, which received design permission from the Thai royal family, include the world's highest lazy river ride called River Sawasdee which has an elevation of 8 metres above ground and the Tower of Power which recently opened in March 2009. This ride is reached by climbing over 200 steps to be faced by a 28m vertical drop slide into a transparent tube running through a pond of alligators.

Families can expect a wonderful day out at the park as there are all kinds of other attractions to suit every age group. These include The Lost City which is a children's play structure featuring over a 100 games.

The park is situated on south coast of the island of Tenerife close to Playa de las Americas.
