Palma Exhibitions Open

Cathedral in Palma

The capital of Mallorca has always taken pride in its ability to attract and showcase the best of art, culture and music and at any time of year there is always a great choice of concerts, performances and exhibitions to choose from.

Many of the larger musical events take place in the Auditorium Palma, a modern and impressive theatre and conference facility in the centre of the city. During March, the popular Spanish group Revolver, singer Manuel Carrasco and the Balearics Symphony Orchestra all gave concerts at the venue. There was also be a performance of the musical "Saturday Night Fever" or as the Mallorcans call it "Fiebre del Sabado Noche".

Also starting in March are two interesting photographic exhibitions. The first is at the Centre d'Art La Real in Palma and shows the first presentation of work by Natxo Bassols entitled L'Amant Invisible or The Invisible Lover. British photographer Kirsten Leedham also has an exhibition in Palma, running from 18th April until 12th April at the Espai Art gallery. Ms Leedham studied in the UK at Bournmouth Institute of Art and is now based in Spain. Her exhibition, entitled Cuba Flash, showcases images from a recent visit to Cuba. Previous work includes images from Morroco and Ethiopia.

Palma was also the location for a number of traditional events and celebrations over the Easter weekend.
